Although at the beginning of the Bronze Age tools, weapons and jewellery were imported ready-made from abroad, people soon began to produce bronze products locally. Worn and broken objects were melted down and shaped into new ones. To be able to cast bronze it has to be heated to a temperature between 1100 - 1200°C. This temperature could be reached by using charcoal and bellows. The liquid bronze was then poured into a mould of clay or stone. When it had cooled down, the new object had to be touched up or, if necessary, sharpened and provided with a handle or helve
