These frescos are based on fourteenth century paintings in city castle Drakenburg (Oudegracht 114). The story painted is about Gawain and the checkerboard, the knight Gawain goes behind a magical, flying checkerboard. He experiences all kinds of adventures, as a kind of comic strip the strory is painted on the walls of the merchant's house.
