Cassus

Cassus

This is a typical Roman helmet, which was carried by the soldiers in the army. The helmet has solid cheek valves, an excellent metal plate in order to protect the neck and a ledge on the forehead, which protects the nose. On the helmet a plume of horsehair can be placed. For "ordinary" soldiers it ran from the front to the back, while the centurion (leader) wore a plume from ear to ear.
