In the town of Gravendam, the crew of De Jonge Kraai pulls their ships onto dry land and sets up a medieval encampment. Visit the camp, listen to the stories and see what life was like back then.

The year is 1630. The Netherlands is involved in the Eighty Years' War, also known as the Dutch revolt: it lasts from 1568 - 1648. Allemansend, a ship's crew of the ship De Jonge Kraai, is in possession of a letter of commission to do harm to the Spanish rulers. Some crew members hire themselves out as mercenaries during the land war. They are very popular because sailors are strong and can take a beating.
